Is it okay to change direction?
Is change good for you and your family?
Do you have the right to change the things you do in life?
YES!
It is okay to change careers. It is okay to move. It is okay to stay at home with your kids. It is okay to build a business.
It is okay for you to do God-honoring work that fulfills you.
This is going to look different for each person and how we get there is different as well.
In 2023 our family went through some major changes.
-My husband retired from twenty years in the Navy and transitioned into civilian life.
-We moved cross country again for the third time in three years.
-We transitioned back into our old church.
-I changed careers as well.
A lot happened in a short period for our family and we were all exhausted. This was the hardest transition for our family and I needed a change.
This transition led to a change in my business ambitions.
I needed a career that was creative and didn’t suck the life out of me. I needed to be able to stop in the middle of a project and be free to help my kids with school and have more flexibility.
These types of changes are good. Making changes to help your family and to have more peace is worth pursuing.
Are you in need of changing directions?
Sit down and write out everything that brings you joy and follow up with everything that doesn’t.
Put a line through everything you are responsible for. I don’t love doing laundry, but I have to do it so I’d mark that off as a responsibility.
Is there anything that doesn’t bring you joy that you could eliminate from your life? If so, start there.
Is there something you need to change directions with to make your life better and have more peace?
Creating art on my iPad, pen and paper, and painting brings me a lot of fulfillment so I started adding design classes and art into my life. This is what my career transitioned into this year. I finally found a career path that brings me joy in my work. It also has given me something to bring my kids alongside me as I work and involve them. If I’m drawing, they can draw. If I’m painting, they can paint. If I’m working on my iPad, they can watch my process and even use my iPad to create art as well.
Do you need to add an art practice to your life?
Adding an art practice into your life could reenergize your life and give you space to love your family better, help others, serve, and bring you peace.
Everyone needs to express themselves creatively.
If art is how you plan on doing that, you are in the right place. I have shared how I started my art journey, the classes I’ve taken, and how I took my unknown passion for art and turned it into a profitable business.
Take fifteen minutes today and see if there is anything you need to eliminate from your life and if adding an art practice would give you new energy.
